Jakarta (Viva) Indonesia’s state enterprise the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) is exploring importing beef from Spain as it prepares availability of beef for the upcoming holy fasting month of Ramadan and the Lebaran Idul Fitri festival holiday. Bulog Managing Director Djarot Kusumayakti said today the availability of just frozen beef in Bulog warehouses is 36,000 tonnes. “In the lead up to the fasting month there is satisfactory stock. The ideal figure is difficult to determine,” he said at the Ministry of Agriculture in Jakarta on Thursday February 23, 2017.

According to [Djarot], the quality of beef from Spain is can’t be beaten by that from Australia. In fact, it’s famous for being excellent. In addition, the price offered from Spain is cheaper compared to Australia. However, he did not mention any details regarding pricing.
