By Ross Ainsworth in Jakarta & Lampung – Live slaughter prices appear to have reached their bottom and turned north with average rates for February edging up a fraction to around the Rp 41,500 per kg live weight.  There also appears to be a general sentiment that the “new” supply and demand equation which includes Indian beef has reached a point where the instability caused by Indian supply has now been factored into the market (after capturing about 50% of the business) and is no longer a disrupter to current day to day trading.  The price of $4.06 above is a little misleading as the Aussie $ has risen so quickly during February that it has made the Indonesian price appear to be on the slide again rather than the reverse.
